According to these posts, videos captured the event, showing a baseball-sized meteor landing in an open field. The alleged impact was said to have caused seismic activity, small fires, and an explosion. However, government agencies, including the U.S. Geological Survey, have not confirmed these claims. There is no record of a 3.2-magnitude earthquake at the reported time, and the most recent seismic event near Midland was much smaller.
And this is the part most people miss... Official logs, including the American Meteor Society's fireball database, do not show any fireball events in Midland or Ector County during the specified timeframe. This lack of official documentation adds to the mystery.
We reached out to local authorities, and the City of Midland confirmed that neither the police nor the fire department investigated the incident. Some residents suggested that the noise could have been caused by an electrical explosion, but Oncor Energy reported no equipment failures in the area.
