Ice cream dreams have come true for Long Islanders! Ben & Jerry's has officially opened its doors at Station Yards in Ronkonkoma, bringing a sweet escape to the heart of the community. Located at 3 Hawkins Ave, just a stone's throw from the Ronkonkoma train station, this new location is set to become a favorite spot for locals and travelers alike.
Owner Nisha Sachdeva expressed her excitement, stating that "Station Yards immediately felt like the right home for our Ben & Jerry’s." The shop boasts a spacious 1,476-square-foot area, complete with a vibrant mural featuring bright blues and greens, and of course, the iconic Ben & Jerry's cow. It's a feast for the eyes before you even get to the ice cream!
But here's where it gets interesting: While Ben & Jerry's is a global brand, with its headquarters in Vermont, it has deep roots in Long Island. Founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield actually grew up in Merrick, right here on Long Island, before launching their first ice cream venture. This local connection adds a special touch to the new Ronkonkoma location.
The company, now part of the British packaged goods giant Unilever, is famous for its creative and delicious flavors. Imagine indulging in a scoop of Chunky Monkey or Cherry Garcia. The new Ben & Jerry's joins a vibrant mix of other eateries at the $1.2 billion multi-use development, Station Yards, including Lucharitos, Vespa, and Pink Fin, all developed by Tritec.
