winged-serpent.350.11-000.jpgIn 2007, President Bush awarded Lt. Colonel Bruce Crandall the Congressional Medal of Honor for extraordinary service in Vietnam. Crandall flew some 900 rescue missions to airlift wounded or trapped soldiers out of the jungle, often from places so 'hot' that the medivacs couldn't get in. The call sign on his helicopter's fuselage was a winged serpent puffing a cigar. Colonel Crandall chewed on the cigar to protect his teeth from the shock of machine gun bullets hitting the armor plate on the underside of the chopper. The cigar only got lit after he landed safely. Crandall's son commissioned our linear, minimalist interpretation of the call sign, as a pair of gold cufflinks. They are about 1" high, and each consists of six separate pieces, requiring some of the most delicate soldering and intricate polishing we have ever done. Style 403PE Lion Pendant is offered in yellow, white or rose gold, with .25 ct of diamonds positioned as shown. A new client asked us to replace the diamonds with Peridot and Black Onyx. Because of the brittleness of black onyx and the relative softness of peridot, we anticipated a breakage rate of at least 25%. Thanks to the incredible 'hands' of our setter, not a single stone was broken. Minor miracle!

emerald-ring-350-2.jpg Handmade Emerald & Diamond Ring in 18K white and yellow gold. The emerald itself was purchased by my father in 1979, and I inherited it in 1999. It is a natural emerald, with a GIA certificate obtained by my father shortly after acquiring it. It weighs 3.82 ct, and is exceptionally clean, bright and lively. The diamonds, forming a micro pave-set halo around the emerald and down the shank, are SI1 clarity, F/G color, with a total weight of .66ct. The setting is simple and elegant, in a size 6-1/2, and can be resized. The approximate retail price of this ring in a fine jewelry store would be between $17,500 and $19,500! We are offering it at $10,995! (If you are outside of the U.S., check your with local customs office before contacting us to be sure an item of this value can be imported; we will ship Global Express Guaranteed). SOLD
